Barack Obama May Become The Seventh Not the First, Black President

If Sen. Barack Obama wins the Democratic nomination for president and goes on to win the White House, he would be the seventh, not the first black man to occupy the oval office, according to three black historians whose work to uncover the racial backgrounds of U.S. presidents has been largely ignored until now.
Black male historians have written extensively that Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Dwight Eisenhower had black ancestors. These historians are Joel A. Rodgers, Dr. Leroy Vaughn, and Dr. Auset Bakhufu.
Black historians, however, were not the first to write about the five presidents' racially mixed families. White historians and political opponents also wrote about the men's black ancestors, but the books were either destroyed, went out of print or are hard to find.
A common theme associated with the earlier black presidents is that they all passed for white, sometimes destroying family photographs and letters, to hide their racial backgrounds.
Sen. Obama cannot obviously pass for white because of his dark skin color. Obama makes it clear he is the son of a Kenyan economist and white female anthropologist.
Interracial relationships between black women and white men explain the racial backgrounds of some of the presidents, but not all.
Sexual relationships between black men and white women have produced offspring. Andrew Jackson, the nation's seventh's president, was the son of a black man and an Irish woman, according to historians.
Interracial relationships between black men and Native American women also produced racially mixed offspring.
Rodgers, who died in 1966, wrote the book The Five Black Presidents, and Dr. Vaughn devotes a chapter to the five black presidents in his Black People and Their Place in World History. Rogers and Vaughn agree Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln, Harding and Coolidge had black ancestors.
Dr. Auset Bakhufu, author of The Six Black Presidents' Black Blood: White Masks includes Eisenhower.
Despite author Toni Morrison's 1998 New Yorker magazine article that claims Bill Clinton is the nation's first black president because of his womanizing and frequenting McDonald's restaurants, Clinton is not listed.

Hip Hop Summer Camp (Miami)

"P.A.T.H." (which stands for Preserving, Archiving and Teaching Hip-Hop History) is the new film by award-winning documentary filmmaker Dan Perez . It documents the P.A.T.H. Hip-Hop Academy , the first ever summer camp of it's kind in Miami, Florida.

Watch trailer here:

P.A.T.H. is the brainchild of popular Miami hip-hop artist Brimstone127 who after eight years, finally found a home for his program at the Miami Light Project's downtown Miami studio.

Miami's most talented artists and performers served as instructors. The list included urban artist Krave, DJ Immortal from Scratch Academy, International B-Girl Beta Rawkz and Soulflower, who has shared the mic with emcees such as Erykah Badu, KRS-ONE and Outkast.

During the four week camp, teenagers from ages 12-18 studied Hip-Hop history, the art of deejaying, emceeing (rapping), B-boying and B-girling (break-dancing), and urban art.

The camp also featured an impressive lineup of guest speakers. Hip-Hop pioneer Grandmaster Dee of Whodini, DJ Epps, Spider Loc of G-Unit, DJ Magic, popular Miami artist Lebo, Faisal Tavernier of Urban America Network and international motivational speaker Kirk Nugent were just some of the names that took the time to stop in and address the students.

The Outlawz launch record label in Australia

Many rappers such as the on and off again banned from Australia Snoop Dogg love the southern continent; but none in the past have set up a local record label let alone used their fame and success to further the local music industry.

The Outlawz, formed by the late Tupac Shakur, have done just that, forming Outlaw Recordz Australia.

"We plan to use this new company to not only further the Outlawz brand in Australia but to also help develop talent down there, as well as offer Australian's American products they may not have had access to in the past."

In addition to that Outlaw Recordz Australia will release a joint album between The Outlawz and local musicians that the group will record during their September tour and in the future plan on releasing more CDs from Australian musicians.

"America 2 Australia: The Best of the Best" will be a double-disc LP and also include a compilation of 14 accompanying music videos to be mainly filmed during the Outlawz Australian visit.

This is an unprecedented opportunity for Australian urban music, and for Australian artists to be a part of the movement that will carry on Tupac's legacy.

"They love and support real Hip-Hop and Australia really has great artists too," Young Noble states. "We are very excited about going back for this tour and looking forward to recording this album with all the top Aussie talent."

The group has joined forces with local Hip-Hop figures Rukas and Young Bleezy to form the new company. Rukas will serve as President and Co-CEO of Outlaw Recordz Austalia and Young Bleezy will serve as the Label Producer and Co-CEO.

Hip Hop Republicans Are Just Like You

Or maybe not...

Courtesy of HiphopRepublican.com

Did you ever think you'd see the day when hip-hop was synonymous with the Republican Party? Well, for one group the two go hand in hand. Claudio Simpkins of the Hip Hop Republican has a simple message, one that he wants to share with BV readers. Just to let you know, his group consists of young black Republicans who want you to know they are just as "down" for black folks as liberals. Their only difference is that they hold conservative views on certain issues. Here's what he told Black Voices about his life a young black conservative:

Horoscopes 9-5-2008

ARIES (March 21-April 19). There's no way to tell which of today's setbacks will be absolutely the luckiest thing that could have happened, but you can be sure that one of them falls into the category. Stay open to hidden possibilities.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Purposeful energy is attractive. Perhaps that's why you're drawn to someone who is on a quest. You may even suspect that you have what this person is looking for, and you'd be right.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You may share common beliefs with your neighbor, but the way you express and act on those beliefs isn't the same at all. You're getting a chance to exercise tolerance and you're a happier person when you do.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). A friend offers you an opportunity to test the unknown. The change will do you good, especially if it's the one suggested by a Sagittarius. You will be surprised what you enjoy when you give it a chance.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Offer the benefit of the doubt wherever possible. When you think highly of someone, they react to you using their very best etiquette, resources and abilities. Tonight, don't try to solve people's problems. Just listen.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Attention to aesthetics will forward your business as well as your romantic interests. There is nothing phony about making an impression. Taking the time to be stylish is just plain good manners.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Take a break from being the group mastermind. You don't have to be “on” all of the time. Back up and be a relaxed observer of the dynamics around you. You're learning and growing.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). There are some arguments that you can never win, and you actually wouldn't be any better off if you could. Know when to walk away. Say your final piece and leave it at that.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). The things you really want are interconnected. Make health your top priority, and other unrelated personal goals are attained in the process. It's a cheerful, high-energy night.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). When it comes to your customers, clients or boss, you're not content to have merely their approval. You want their respect, loyalty, and undying affection would be nice, too. That's why you work harder.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Leading the pack is no small feat today. If you can get anyone to follow directions, stick to your plan or see your vision, consider yourself a major success. Tonight, your charisma is off the charts.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Instead of wondering if someone loves you, figure out how to love yourself. Part of your self-care is making sure you have enough challenging and interesting work to keep you creatively stimulated.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 5). You have the attractive habit of reinventing yourself this year. Because of this, your friends may accuse you of finding the fountain of youth. For work or love, you are best suited to partners who enjoy and collaborate with your experiments. In January, a teacher imparts exactly the knowledge you need. Capricorn and Aries adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 10, 4, 39, 2 and 16.

"A face of stone, was shocked on the other end of the phone
Word back home is that you had a special friend
So what was oh so special then?
You have given away without gettin at me
That's your fault, how many times you forgiven me?
How was I to know that you was plain sick of me?
I know the way a ni**a livin was whack
But you don't get a ni**a back like that!
S**t I'm a man with pride, you don't do s**t like that
You don't just pick up and leave and leave me sick like that
You don't throw away what we had, just like that
I was just f***in them girls, I was gon' get right back
They say you can't turn a bad girl good
But once a good girl's goin bad, she's gone forever..
I'll mourn forever

Illmatic to become a book

"Large Professor Reacts To Illmatic Being Turned To Book
September 4th, 2008 Author: Jake Paine

Hip Hop scholar, author and activist Dr. Michael Eric Dyson announced yesterday that he is currently writing a book on Nas' debut album Illmatic. The 1994 release received the coveted five mic rating from The Source magazine, and is considered by many, to be the greatest single Hip Hop album of all times.

"Every song on Illmatic will be analyzed, interpreted and then re-articulated in a kind of intellectual sense from his own base in Hip Hop and we’re trying to deal with that seriously," Dyson told AllHipHop.com Wednesday."

Horoscopes 9-5

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You would like to be able to surrender your own will to the will of the heavens, but faith doesn't always come easily. So it's nice when you find out that what you want is also best for everyone.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Where there's a spotlight, step into it. If the forum is open to questions, ask one. When there's a need for volunteers, be one. Making yourself more visible to others will help you identify or hone your talent.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You may feel a little bit lost. When you ask for guidance, you get it. And you'll probably find out in the process that you're not as bad off as you thought you were. You're pretty close to the goal now.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). Somewhere along the line your creativity was squelched by the practical sort of person who simply didn't understand you. Now you're inspired to use your imagination and make up for lost time.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). It's the perfect time for wandering. Go off purpose. See places you're not particularly interested in. Communicate with people you have no business talking to. Bring on your own awakening.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). In these mercurial times, being merely adaptable simply isn't enough. Why be amenable to change when you can fall in love with it? Seek pleasure in the knowledge that everything is becoming something different.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Oh, the shenanigans you'll get into. It looks like a barrel of laughs to an outside observer; however, your experience is probably different. You may even wonder whether this kind of fun is worth the work involved.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You were the one to start a project. Someone else has taken over and is leading things in a different direction than the one you would have chosen. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Keep an open mind.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Prayer comes in many forms. Today, your thoughts are your prayers and so are the questions you ask yourself. You're deepening a union with the mysteries of your own heart.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Who can do it better than you? Probably no one. Still, you can't do everything. Sooner or later you have to delegate. Your choice of candidates isn't perfect, but it's certainly adequate.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Stay in control. Go cautiously into new situations. Promise nothing, but don't say you promise nothing. Use only a few choice words to convey where you're at and your intentions for the future.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You've been keeping it together for a long time, and it's coming easier to you. You never lacked brains, but you must admit that you're now smarter than you ever were. You solve today's problems in a snap.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 4). You're so well liked that over the next seven weeks your pals might actually fight for your exclusive attention. You prove your big heart, not to mention sheer class, when you hone in on the positive contributions your loved ones bring you. Investments pay in November. Relationships go to the next step in January. Libra and Aquarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 2, 50, 21, 43 and 6.

Hip-Hop Quote of the Day

Artist: Ice Cube
Album: Raw Footage
Song: Why Me?

Why the f**k you wanna murder me?
Your punk ass never heard of me
I never did nothin' to your family
Still you wanna kill a young ni**er randomly
You wanna take the life God handed to me
Send it back to him coz you ain't a fan to me
Scary bitch with a gun that ain't a man to me
That's an animal,
A f**king cannibal
I'm Duranimo(?) and Hannibal
We international Gangsta bull
I'm bull and Barcelona, with a karona
You a fake ass ni**er, where's ya owner?
I'm real live man, you a persona
Now I'm a goner, call ma momma, in the corner
Mister gun man, your plan is working
Coz ni**ers is dieing and mommas is hurting

Why you wanna murder me?
You never ever heard of me
You don't know who I am
I could be part of your family tree
Now
Sent by G.O.D
To save the word you and me
You never know who you facin'
Who ya chasin'
The life you wastin'

I was made by the one and only G.O.D
To take my life to the T.O.P
Now here comes a motherf**kin' D.O.G
Who ain't happy til a ni**er is R.I.P
Tryin' to be som'in' you saw on BET
Either T.I.P or B.I.G
I don't give a f**k what you saw on TV
But a 187 don't make a O.G.

I'm a O.G
Never had to fake it
God gave me this, how you goin' take it
What you goin' tell 'em, when you get to heaven
when he asks you why did you send back his present.
Who the f**k are you, you motherf**king peasant
Even got the nerve to ask the man for a blessing.
Send his ass to Hades with his big Mercedes
Ni**er, hell on earth is being stuck in the 80's

Why you wanna murder me?
You never ever heard of me
You don't know who I am
I could be part of your family tree
Now
Sent by G.O.D
To save the word you and me
You never know who you facin'
Who ya chasin'
The life you wastin'

Before you shoot me man think about it
lets go have a drink about it
Before you make a stink about it
man lets talk about it
maybe we can walk about it.
But just don't be a coward
and take my life 'cause you got the power
of the white mans gun powder
coz you might face a gun tower.
And time never run out,
They take the fun out, til your life run out.
So don't pull your gun out,
If you ever want a house, just like Run's house.
It's better than a big house,
Less four-five some woman we can dig out,
Find a place we can dig out,
Party all night til the owner say 'get out'

Why you wanna murder me?
You never ever heard of me
You don't know who I am
I could be part of your family tree
Now
Sent by G.O.D
To save the word you and me
You never know who you facin'
Who ya chasin'
The life you wastin'

Dedicated to all the ni**ers, thats dead and don't know why.
Who wanna look at the ni**er who shot 'em
And ask these questions.

Check the Technique: Liner Notes for Hip-Hop Junkies

Product Description
A Tribe Called Quest • Beastie Boys • De La Soul • Eric B. & Rakim • The Fugees • KRS-One • Pete Rock & CL Smooth • Public Enemy • The Roots • Run-DMC • Wu-Tang Clan • and twenty-five more hip-hop immortals

It’s a sad fact: hip-hop album liners have always been reduced to a list of producer and sample credits, a publicity photo or two, and some hastily composed shout-outs. That’s a damn shame, because few outside the game know about the true creative forces behind influential masterpieces like PE’s It Takes a Nation of Millions. . ., De La’s 3 Feet High and Rising, and Wu-Tang’s Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). A longtime scribe for the hip-hop nation, Brian Coleman fills this void, and delivers a thrilling, knockout oral history of the albums that define this dynamic and iconoclastic art form.

The format: One chapter, one artist, one album, blow-by-blow and track-by-track, delivered straight from the original sources. Performers, producers, DJs, and b-boys–including Big Daddy Kane, Muggs and B-Real, Biz Markie, RZA, Ice-T, and Wyclef–step to the mic to talk about the influences, environment, equipment, samples, beats, beefs, and surprises that went into making each classic record. Studio craft and street smarts, sonic inspiration and skate ramps, triumph, tragedy, and take-out food–all played their part in creating these essential albums of the hip-hop canon.

Insightful, raucous, and addictive, Check the Technique transports you back to hip-hop’s golden age with the greatest artists of the ’80s and ’90s. This is the book that belongs on the stacks next to your wax.

Rakim Told Me

Product Description

For years, hip-hop fans have been robbed of context and background when buying and enjoying classic albums from the Golden Age: the 1980s. “Rakim Told Me” brings you these invisible liner notes, one album at a time, with new angles and engaging stories. 21 albums are examined in-depth, and facts are uncovered with the turn of every page. Journalist Brian Coleman has, over the past decade, immersed himself in and written about the hip-hop art form as a columnist for national magazines like XXL, Scratch, CMJ and URB. In this volume, The ‘80s, he digs deep, one-on one, with legendary artists like Rakim, De La Soul, Ice-T, Public Enemy, KRS-One, Run-DMC, Slick Rick, Too $hort and many more. “Rakim Told Me” lets you dive head first into the world of your favorite hip-hop artists and the classic albums they produced. These are pure wax facts straight from the original artists, brought to the surface again after years of invisibility. So dig out your turntable, clean off your Zulu Nation medallion, crack open a chapter, and relive hip-hop’s most creative and captivating era.

About the Author
Brian Coleman is 34 years old and has been mesmerized and energized by hip-hop music since Run-DMC, Public Enemy, DJ Red Alert and "Yo! MTV Raps" messed with his teenage mind in the otherwise forgettable 1980s. In the past decade he has written hundreds of reviews and features about the hip-hop artform for national magazines and newspapers such as XXL (“Classic Material” columnist, 1999 – present; “Ill Techniques” columnist 2001 – 2003), Scratch (Editor-At-Large, 2004-present, “Pioneer DJ” and “Indie 500” columnist), Complex, CMJ Weekly (Hip-Hop columnist and editor, 1997 and 2001) and CMJ Monthly (Hip-Hop columnist 1997 – 2001), URB, Boston Herald, Boston Phoenix, Blaze and NY Press.

West Coast Rap Pioneers

Nowadays West Coast Rap is a multimillion dollar business, but how did it all begin? This website will take you on a trip to the forgotten days of the early West Coast Hip Hop scene when fame came before money and the foremost goal was to get the people dancing and the party rocking. The time was fresh and wild in the early 80´s. DJ´s like Michael "Mixxing" Moore and Tony Joseph moved from New York to Los Angeles with a bag full of skills and ideas to conquer the young West Coast Music Scene. They had the highest rated radio shows in Los Angeles on KJLH and KACE called "The Saturday Night Jam" ,"The Traffic Jam", and "L.A. Sunday". In the year 1982 the Rappers Rapp Label, owned by Duffy Hooks, emerged with Gigolo Rap performed by Disco Daddy and Captain Rapp, the first West Coast Hip Hop production. Roger Claytons Uncle Jamms Army was throwing big block parties and the scene was dominated by DJs like Egyptian Lover, Dr. Dre and Chris “The Glove” Taylor. The radio station K-day, hosted by Greg Mack, went on air 1983 which showcased the first live mixing shows on LA radio with the legendary Mixmasters. Clubs like the Radio and Eve after Dark, with Ice-T, Kid Frost, the Spin Masters and Grandmaster Lonzos famous World Class Wreckin Cru made the party people dance the "Freak" to an uptempo beat with synthesizer and vocoder. These clubs and legendary events like the Uncle Jamm parties in the LA Sports Arena captivated the people who became addicted to this new form of music. This website is dedicated to the early West Coast Hip Hop music scene, and a tribute to the artists who put California on the map.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). It doesn't matter what you do, it's the spirit in which you do it that matters. So whatever the task before you may be, it's the perfect task for you to exercise the playful, clever, tender and mischievous parts of you.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Your tenacity makes the difference. You not only succeed where others have succeeded, but you'll succeed where others have failed. Take a break or a breath, but keep it to the minimum. And then keep going.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). It's easy for you to be caring because you genuinely cherish your loved ones and act accordingly. However, you do have a lot on your plate now, which is distracting your attention from those who normally get it.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You're recovering from a past loss. This may have happened ages ago, but there are still raw spots that come up now and again. You're ready to deal now, and so you do.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Let go of the little bothersome details and you'll start to see what really matters. You have more control over a situation than you realized. This afternoon brings the perfect opportunity to exercise your power.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Obsessive thought patterns get a bad rap. You find a way to positively channel those thoughts you can't let go. You get what you think about, whether you want it or not.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). That perfectly neat stack of work gets ruffled by a breeze, the freshly washed car gets sprinkled on – things happen. Therefore, spending too much time on details is futile. Leave what's good enough alone for now.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). There is luck in the form of an unexpected opportunity. New distractions happen for a reason – there's something perfect for you. Allow yourself to explore what interests you even if it's not in the plan.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). It's extremely tempting to overexert your influence, perhaps by interrupting, talking too loud or overtaking a situation that is not exactly your business. Instead, choose silent power.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Is asking for a relationship that is rich in both love and money an impossibility? No, as long as you have your priorities straight, you can throw in a request for happiness, too, while you're at it.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). As yoga enthusiasts know, “Prana” is a force of vitality in the air. You're breathing it in and letting it activate your mind and body with very little interference. What was difficult yesterday is now done in a snap.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You've lately fallen into the habit of putting someone else before your own well-being. Devote extra time to taking care of yourself. This might mean preparing a proper meal or soaking in the tub. Do it just for you.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 3). Instead of following conventional wisdom, you follow the wisdom of your heart and find a deep and resounding fulfillment. A new soul drifts into the picture this month – someone you will never tire of. Play your hunches in November. Your psychic powers increase as you act on them. Cancer and Leo adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 10, 32, 4 and 18.

If they could, they would plan something on me
But really, them ain't the fools I gotta worry 'bout
Cause white folks got it locked in the white house
And I doubt a republican or democrate
Gives a fuck about us young inner city blacks

It's a trap, Uncle Sam keeps cursing me
Rather have me in the pen than the university
Yeah, it's a shame but mane, that's how it is
So ya better peep game and try to lace ya kids
Cause it ain't no tellin' what's soon to come
When the punk president might drop the bomb
Got me all stressed out with my brain on numb
My little cousin asking me where dope come from"

Horoscopes 9-2

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Your outer world reflects your inner world. You like to keep it in order. You'll finally find a little chunk of extra time to get organized –it's no small task, and you're no small talent.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You're known for having the right thing to say and expressing it in the perfect moment. Others may ask you to handle important details. Your memory is excellent and your ability to concentrate is unsurpassed.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). There are things you know, but you don't know why you know them. This knowledge is important, essential and quite loud in your head this afternoon. Of course you should act on it.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You have the power to move people, except that it doesn't feel anything like power. It just feels like you being natural, honest and vulnerable. There's nothing required of you other than just to be yourself.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Everyone has some mean self-definition they boot down to in moments of insecurity. So when you find yourself internally calling yourself names like a naughty 8-year-old on the playground, know that it's a human thing.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). The people, things and situations that would be normally seductive to you are now more enticing than ever. It's fine to do some wandering in the areas that interest you; just don't wander in too far.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You're so private. You could be a spy if you wanted to be. So it's a rare day that you're willing to give up a secret – someone else's or yours. But you'll do just that today and be met with rapt interest.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Being successful is about timing now and your most successful quality is just that – fabulous timing. You'll be in the right place at the right time by the right person. All you have to do is speak up.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Friendship takes work. Be the one to make the first call and the last call. Follow up, no matter what happens to change the dynamic between you and your special people.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You don't want to rock the boat. However, it's better not to bottle your feelings up. Express yourself quickly, clearly and briefly. This type of communication sets the stage for many happy hours of together time.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Nothing bonds you with loved ones like a big project with an impossible timeline. Share the mission with any and all capable people around you. You'll have funny stories by the end of this quest.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 2). Your playfulness knows no bounds. A joyful spree raises your energy this month. Romance is the natural byproduct of your zesty approach to life. Your team spirit is rewarded and you'll be put in charge of important projects in November. In January, you get even better at what you do best. Pisces and Capricorn adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 10, 3, 24, 31 and 18.

Hip-Hop Quote of the Day

Artist: Whodini
Album: Back in Black
Song: One Love

"Now the love I use to have just left me cold

I use to buy everything from diamonds to gold

For I thought she'd left me, cuz I didn't buy her enough

Cuz she left me alone, with all of my stuff

That maybe one of these days, you'll have to learn

That love is something, that you have to earn

And once you earn it, you gotta know how to keep it

You got to want it, as much as you need it

To have lost love, was a hurten lesson

But to have love, is a definate blessing

And I know what the Beatles were thinking of

When they said that money can't buy you love"

Hip Hop Quote of the Day

Artist: T.I
Album: Paper Trail
Song: Live Your Life

"I'm the opposite of moderate, immaculately polished with the spirit of a hustler and the swagger of a college kid.
Allergic to the counterfeit, impartial to the politics.
Articulate but still would grab a nigga by the collar quick.
Whoever had the problems with they record sales, just holla 'til.
If that don't work and all else fails, then turn around and follow 'til.
I got love for the game but ay I'm not in love with all of it.
I do without the fame and the rappers nowadays are comedy.
The hootin' and the hollerin', back and forth with the arguing.
Where you from, who you know, what you make and what kind of car you in.
Seems as though you lost sight of whats important with the positive.
And checks into your bank account, and you're up out of poverty/
Your values is in disarray, prioritizing horribly.
Unhappy with the riches cause you piss poor morally.
Ignoring all prior advice and fore warning.
And we might be full of ourselves all of a sudden aren't we?"
